Fire Breaks Out at Port Harcourt Refinery, No Casualties Reported

A fire outbreak occurred at the Port Harcourt Refinery on Tuesday, causing panic among workers and residents in the area. The incident, which started in the early hours of the morning, was quickly contained by emergency responders, and no casualties have been reported.

According to officials, the fire originated from a technical fault in one of the refinery’s units. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), which operates the facility, has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and prevent future occurrences.

The Port Harcourt Refinery, one of Nigeria’s largest, has faced numerous operational challenges in recent years, including frequent shutdowns and maintenance issues. The fire has raised concerns about the safety of the facility and its impact on Nigeria’s fuel supply.

As investigations continue, stakeholders are calling for improved safety measures and investment in the country’s refining capacity to avoid such incidents in the future.
