Tinubu Appoints Vice Admiral Ibas as Rivers Administrator Amid Political Crisis

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) as the Administrator of Rivers State, following weeks of political unrest in the oil-rich state. The appointment, announced on Tuesday, is aimed at restoring stability and ensuring effective governance in the crisis-ridden state.

Vice Admiral Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff, is expected to bring his wealth of experience in leadership and crisis management to the role. His appointment comes amid a deepening political feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement, the Presidency described Ibas as a seasoned administrator with a proven track record of service. “Vice Admiral Ibas is a man of integrity and competence. We are confident that he will restore peace and order in Rivers State,” the statement read.
