Alia Consolidation Core Team Slams Senator Abba Moro for Selective Activism

The Alia Consolidation Core Team (ACCT) has strongly criticized Senator Abba Moro, accusing him of prioritizing political conflicts over genuine governance. In a statement signed by its Secretary, Comrade Didacus Secivir Iorver, the group condemned Moro’s interference in Benue State affairs while remaining silent on critical issues affecting his own party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The ACCT described Moro’s selective activism as a self-serving strategy that undermines both democratic values and the integrity of the PDP.

“Senator Abba Moro’s bigotry is glaring as he continues to play the role of a self-appointed moral arbiter while calmly turning a blind eye to abuses against his own party,” the statement read.

The group criticized Moro’s intervention in the affairs of the Benue State House of Assembly, where he condemned the removal of the Chief Judge and the suspension of 13 assembly members.

“His forthright intrusion in the affairs of the Benue State House of Assembly, where he carelessly criticized the removal of the Chief Judge and the suspension of 13 assembly members, signifies a man who thrives on squabble rather than genuine concern for governance.

“His eagerness to meddle in state matters raises questions about his motivations. Suffice it to ask: was it genuinely about justice, was it a malicious way to get at the state leadership as usual, or merely a performance to bolster his political stature?”

The ACCT also highlighted Moro’s silence on the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a fellow PDP member, describing it as a glaring double standard.

“However, in stark contrast, Moro has remained inexplicably silent in the face of the dragging, suppression, and consequent suspension slammed on Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a fellow member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP. This glaring double standard reveals a troubling paradox in his principles.

“If he was so quick to lash out at perceived injustices in Benue, why has he chosen to ignore an egregious act against one of his own? Moro’s silence speaks volumes, suggesting that his concern for what he terms justice is selective and contingent on his political convenience.”

The group condemned the harsh treatment of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that it undermines democratic principles and the rights of elected representatives.

“The ruthless retribution meted out to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stripping her of entitlements and privileges without just cause, is a conspicuous aggression against democratic principles and the rights of representatives. What constitutes a crime extreme enough to necessitate such draconian measures against a voice elected by the people?”

The ACCT accused Moro of prioritizing personal and party interests over democratic values, warning that his actions risk alienating both party members and constituents.

“Moro’s passivity not only impairs the integrity of the Senate but also weakens the very foundation of the PDP, which claims to promote the rights of its members. His hesitation to speak out against this prejudice is a betrayal of the ideals he proclaims to uphold.

“In the grand scheme of things, Moro’s behavior illustrates a disturbing trend among political leaders who prioritize personal and party interests over the principles of democracy and justice. His tight-lipped posture on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension accentuates a cynical political strategy—one that prioritizes silence over accountability.

“If he continues down this path, he risks alienating not just his party members but also the constituents who expect their leaders to stand firm against injustice, regardless of political implications.

“It is time for Sen. Moro to choose integrity over opportunism and to hold himself accountable to the very fundamentals he claims to represent.”

DAILY MENTOR reports that the ACCT’s statement highlights growing concerns about political double standards and the need for leaders to uphold democratic principles consistently. The criticism of Senator Moro underscores the importance of accountability and transparency in governance, particularly within political parties.

As the debate continues, stakeholders are calling for a more principled approach to leadership, urging politicians to prioritize justice and fairness over personal or partisan gains.
