Governor Fubara Faces New Challenges as Assembly and Wike’s Faction Push for Impeachment

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is embroiled in a growing political storm as the State Assembly and supporters of former Governor Nyesom Wike ramp up efforts to impeach him.

Reports indicate that lawmakers aligned with Wike’s camp are spearheading the impeachment process, accusing Fubara of governance failures and constitutional breaches.

The development has heightened political tensions in the state, with the governor’s loyalists dismissing the move as a calculated attempt to undermine his administration.

The ongoing feud between Fubara and Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has escalated in recent months, creating a sharp divide within the state’s ruling party.

Political analysts warn that the impeachment threat could exacerbate instability in Rivers State, a critical hub in Nigeria’s oil-producing South-South region.

In the face of these challenges, Governor Fubara has appealed for calm, urging his supporters to maintain peace while he works to address the allegations. As the situation unfolds, stakeholders are closely monitoring the developments, which could have far-reaching consequences for the state’s political future.
