Julius Aghahowa Backs Super Eagles to Defeat Rwanda in Crucial World Cup Qualifier

Lagos, Nigeria – Former Super Eagles striker Julius Aghahowa has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s national team to secure a victory against Rwanda in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier. The Super Eagles are under pressure to deliver a win to revive their hopes of qualifying for the global tournament after a disappointing start to their campaign.

Nigeria, three-time African champions, are currently winless in Group C, having recorded three draws and one defeat in their previous matches. Their struggles were further highlighted by a shocking 2-1 loss to Rwanda in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier held in Uyo last November. However, Aghahowa believes the Super Eagles have what it takes to turn the tables this time around.

“I am confident if they go into the game with the right mentality, they will win in Rwanda,” Aghahowa told SCORENigeria. He emphasized that while the team’s talent is undeniable, their attitude and commitment when representing the country need improvement.

“The boys are on top form, their talent is never in doubt, but they have to work on their mentality when they play for the country,” Aghahowa added.
