Katsina Police Arrest 144 Suspects, Rescue 105 Kidnapped Victims in Anti-Banditry Operations

Command Neutralizes 4 Bandits, Recovers Weapons and Rustled Animals

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 144 suspects and the rescue of 105 kidnapped victims in its ongoing efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this during a briefing at the command headquarters, highlighting the successes achieved in tackling major crimes.


According to DSP Sadiq, the arrests were made in connection with 128 reported cases of armed robbery, culpable homicide, kidnapping, and rape. The suspects include 16 individuals linked to culpable homicide, 7 armed robbery suspects, 1 suspected informant to bandits, 49 suspected rapists, and 47 others involved in various offences.


In addition to the arrests, the police neutralized four suspected armed bandits, rescued 105 kidnapped victims, and recovered 13 suspected rustled animals. Among the recovered exhibits were four locally made guns, 13 pump-action cartridges, and five motorcycles.


DSP Sadiq commended the efforts of security personnel, praising their hard work and dedication in ensuring a safer Katsina State. “The commitment and professionalism of our officers have been instrumental in achieving these results. We remain resolute in our mission to protect lives and property in the state,” he stated.


The police spokesperson also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and useful information to aid in the fight against crime. He assured the public that the command would sustain its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and maintain peace and security.


The recent operations underscore the Katsina State Police Command’s determination to address the security challenges posed by banditry and other criminal activities in the region.
