University Mourns Tragic Death of Adedamola Ogunbode, Calls for Swift Action as Suspect Aids Police Investigation
The Lagos State University (LASU) has called for swift and thorough justice following the gruesome murder of Adedamola Ogunbode, a recent graduate popularly known as Horlar. The 28-year-old, who graduated with a degree in Political Science Education, was allegedly killed by a prophet in the Ojo area of Lagos State for ritual purposes.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, LASU’s deputy registrar and coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, the university expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident. Ogunbode had been reported missing since January 16, and investigations by security agencies revealed that his mutilated body was found buried in the compound of a popular church in the area.
The prophet of the church has been arrested and is currently assisting the police with their investigation. LASU management condemned the violence, describing the brutality and criminality behind Ogunbode’s death as unacceptable in any society.
“We call for swift and thorough action by the relevant security agencies to ensure that those responsible face justice and that the perpetrators of this horrific crime do not go unpunished,” Thomas-Onashile stated. She urged the university community to remain calm, stay vigilant, and report suspicious activities while the investigation continues.
The university also extended its heartfelt condolences to Ogunbode’s family and loved ones, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time. LASU reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its students, vowing to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies to maintain a safe environment for all.
