Osun State Governor Calls for Reflection and Unity During Lenten Season
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on Christians to use the ongoing Lenten period to pray for lasting peace and unity in Nigeria. Speaking at a church service in Osogbo on Sunday, Governor Adeleke emphasized the importance of spiritual reflection and collective prayers to address the challenges facing the nation.
The governor, who joined worshippers at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, urged Nigerians to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness, which are central to the Lenten season. He noted that the period offers an opportunity for citizens to seek divine intervention for the country’s socio-economic and security challenges.
“As we observe this solemn period, let us remember our nation in our prayers. Let us pray for enduring peace, unity, and progress. Nigeria is facing many challenges, but with faith and collective efforts, we shall overcome,” Adeleke said.
The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and ensuring the welfare of all residents in Osun State. He called on religious leaders to continue preaching messages of hope and tolerance, which he said are essential for national cohesion.
The Lenten season, which began on Ash Wednesday, is a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving observed by Christians worldwide. It culminates in the celebration of Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
As the season progresses, many Nigerians have joined Governor Adeleke in calling for prayers and actions that will foster peace and development in the country.
