Controversial Nigerian musician Portable has made a shocking revelation about the origins of his Instagram account, disclosing that he initially created it to engage in internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”
The singer made the revelation during a conversation with content creator Egungun of Lagos while riding in a car. When questioned about the name “Elizabeth Joyce” on his Instagram profile, Portable opened up about his past intentions.
He explained that he created the account during a period when he was trying to learn internet fraud before his rise to fame. However, his plans to become a “Yahoo boy” did not materialize.
“To be honest with you, I created an Instagram account when I wanted to learn Yahoo Yahoo (internet fraud). That was why I initially opened the account, but it didn’t work out,” Portable said.
He further revealed that he later edited the account, removing the foreigner’s picture he had used, after realizing that people were searching for him online due to his growing success in the music industry.
“I later went back to edit the account and removed the foreigner’s picture from it when I heard that people were looking for me online because I had become successful. Na working account,” he added.
Portable rose to fame in December 2021 with his hit single “Zazoo Zeh,” and since then, he has remained a controversial figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene. His latest revelation adds another layer to his already colorful and unpredictable public persona.
DAILY MENTOR reports that Portable’s candid admission has sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans commending his honesty while others expressed surprise at his past intentions. The singer continues to dominate headlines, keeping him firmly in the public eye.
