The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has announced that fresh Local Government Council elections will be held on August 9, 2025. The date was unveiled by RSIEC Chairman, retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, during a stakeholders’ meeting at the commission’s headquarters on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Justice Enebeli officially presented the timetable and guidelines for the 2025 Local Government Elections. He reaffirmed RSIEC’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, and impartial election, urging all political parties to adhere to the rules and regulations outlined in the guidelines.
The announcement comes as part of efforts to ensure transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process. Justice Enebeli emphasized the importance of collaboration between RSIEC and political stakeholders to achieve a peaceful and successful election.
