Dr. Bashir Lamido, the Pioneer Leader of Arewa Summit International, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 is inevitable, citing the strong support of influential political figures. Lamido made this assertion during an interview with journalists on Wednesday at the Abuja Expo and Ruhe Global Resources International Education Fair in Abuja.
Lamido dismissed the possibility of the opposition defeating Tinubu, emphasizing that the president’s strategic alliances and backing from key political heavyweights have already secured his political future. “The quality of political heavyweights supporting President Tinubu’s re-election makes it practically impossible for him to lose in 2027,” Lamido stated.
He highlighted the support of prominent figures such as former Zamfara State Governor Abdul’aziz Yari, former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Delta State Governor James Ibori as critical to Tinubu’s success. “People speculated that Yari, Kalu, and Ibori might join the opposition to unseat the president.
I also heard that Nasir El-Rufai tried to create a rift between the president and Ganduje. But today, all these men have aligned with Tinubu. They are presidential materials in their own right, yet they have thrown their weight behind him. With this kind of support, Tinubu cannot lose,” Lamido emphasized.
Lamido also downplayed the opposition’s ability to form a strong coalition against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal divisions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP). “When you talk about the opposition taking power, you should ask yourself, can they even agree among themselves? PDP and LP are deeply divided. Who will fly their ticket? Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi? Nasir El-Rufai or Yemi Osinbajo? Rotimi Amaechi or Bukola Saraki? They all have presidential ambitions and are not ready to step down for one another,” he argued.
He further noted that while the opposition remains fragmented, Tinubu’s allies are actively consolidating power ahead of the 2027 elections. “The president’s men are already preparing. Yari is engaging in massive empowerment programs in the North, Kalu is doing the same in the South and even extending his influence to the North. They meet with the president regularly. There is direction, purpose, and everything is being streamlined for victory,” Lamido said.
Lamido’s remarks underscore the growing confidence within Tinubu’s camp and the challenges facing the opposition as they struggle to present a united front. With influential figures rallying behind Tinubu, his re-election bid appears to be gaining momentum, setting the stage for a highly contested political landscape in 2027.
