Trump made the announcement via a post on his Truth Social platform, praising Musk for his efforts to "help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" while criticizing what he called a coordinated boycott of Tesla by "Radical Left Lunatics."
“To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ in order to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote. He accused the political left of attempting to "illegally and collusively boycott Tesla," which he described as one of the world’s greatest automakers and Musk’s "baby."
Trump’s post continued, “I’m going to buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American. Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work in order to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?”
Elon Musk, the world’s richest person and owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), responded to Trump’s announcement with gratitude. “Thank you, Mr. President,” Musk wrote, though he did not elaborate further.
