Victor Osimhen Excited to Work with New Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has expressed his eagerness to begin training under the team’s new head coach, Eric Chelle, as the squad prepares for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Super Eagles will regroup this weekend for crucial matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, marking the first time many players will meet the Malian coach.

Chelle, who was appointed recently, has already begun building relationships with key players. In January, he traveled to Europe to meet with stars such as Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Moses Simon. Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, revealed that he has had several conversations with Chelle and is aligned with the coach’s vision for the team.

“I’ve spoken to him a couple of times and clearly understand the objectives he has set for himself and for the players,” Osimhen told BBC Sports Africa.

The Super Eagles are currently in fifth place in Group C of the qualifiers and are yet to secure a win. Osimhen emphasized the importance of collective effort and determination to turn their fortunes around and secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup.

“It takes more than a coach to win football matches. Players must also be at their best, show commitment, and bear in mind that we can all fly together to reach our goal,” Osimhen added.

The Napoli forward’s comments highlight the team’s focus on unity and performance as they aim to bounce back in the qualifiers. With Chelle at the helm and players like Osimhen leading the charge, the Super Eagles are determined to make a strong push for World Cup qualification. Fans will be eagerly watching as the team takes the field this weekend, hoping for a turnaround in their campaign.
