VIDEO: Nigerian Travel Creator Alma Asinobi Aims to Set World Record by Visiting All Seven Continents

Nigerian travel creator Alma Asinobi has announced her ambitious plan to visit all seven continents in an attempt to set a world record. The journey, set to begin on March 15, 2025, will start in Australia and conclude in Nigeria. Asinobi revealed that she is undertaking this challenge with her Nigerian passport to highlight the issues surrounding passport privilege for Africans.

In a viral video posted on her Instagram page, Asinobi explained her motivation for the bold endeavor: “I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed more light on the issue of passport privilege. When I fully recover from having to apply for more than 10 visas for this trip; and being rejected for two of them a total of five times; I will go in-depth about why we simply cannot afford to accept and remain silent about the second-class treatment we are subjected to when it comes to travel and visa requirements for citizens with low-mobility passports.”

She added, “I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure to show what is possible and inspire you to see the world despite the limitations, while also shining a spotlight on a much-overlooked issue that affects over half of the world’s population, with Africans; both at home and in the diaspora—being among the most impacted.”

DAILY MENTOR reports that the current Guinness World Record for the fastest time to visit all continents is held by two Indian travelers, Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra. They completed the journey in three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds, setting the world record.

Asinobi’s initiative aims to challenge the limitations faced by holders of African passports, which often rank low in global mobility indexes. By undertaking this journey, she hopes to inspire others to explore the world despite these barriers while advocating for greater equality in global travel opportunities.

Her project has already garnered significant attention on social media, with many applauding her courage and determination to address a critical issue affecting millions of people. Asinobi’s journey is not only a personal challenge but also a powerful statement about the need for systemic change in how African travelers are treated on the global stage.

As the world watches her progress, Asinobi’s mission serves as a reminder of the resilience and ambition of African travelers, as well as the urgent need to address the disparities in passport privilege.
