Joe Igbokwe has called for a thorough investigation into the activities of a well-known native doctor in Anambra State, Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly referred to as Akwa Okuko.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Igbokwe expressed suspicion that Akwa Okuko may be involved in activities beyond what is publicly known, given his recent arraignment by the Anambra State Police.
Igbokwe appealed to Governor Charles Soludo to address the growing influence of native doctors in the region with the seriousness it demands, lamenting the worsening security crisis plaguing the South-East.
He recalled a past incident where Akwa Okuko was reportedly kidnapped for failing to honor an agreement with his partners, suggesting that this young man was involved in something more complex and should be thoroughly investigated.
The APC chieftain's call comes amid broader concerns about the role of traditional practitioners in the region's security challenges. Igbokwe emphasized the need for urgent action to address these issues, highlighting the deep-seated problems affecting the South-East.
His appeal to Governor Soludo underscores the urgency of tackling the security situation, which has been exacerbated by various factors, including the influence of native doctors and other criminal elements.
