FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Denies Collapse Rumours, Calls Them Politically Motivated

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly dismissed circulating rumours that he collapsed and was flown abroad for medical treatment, describing the reports as baseless and politically driven attempts to distract the public from more pressing issues.

Speaking during an inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, including the International Conference Centre, Wike clarified that he has remained active and healthy, participating in official engagements such as the President’s Iftar event and leading residents to the Presidential Villa. He emphasized that there was never any incident of collapse or hospitalization, urging Nigerians to disregard the falsehoods spread by political opponents seeking to score cheap points.

Wike linked the rumours to efforts to divert attention from security concerns raised by the former Rivers State Head of Service regarding plots to attack the Rivers State House of Assembly and other national assets. He called on Nigerians to stop wishing ill health or death on public figures, affirming his commitment to his duties and the ongoing development projects in the FCT.

Highlighting the progress of key projects ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office, Wike expressed satisfaction with contractors’ performance and funding, urging residents and businesses to meet their tax obligations as these funds directly support the infrastructural transformation.

The minister concluded by reaffirming his focus on delivering tangible development for Abuja residents, dismissing distractions from political rumours as irrelevant to his mandate.

In summary, Nyesom Wike remains in good health and resolute in his mission to advance the Federal Capital Territory, urging the public to reject unfounded rumours and focus on the positive changes underway.
