Kaduna, Nigeria, April 3, 2025 – In a brazen attack, armed assailants targeted two soldiers from the 312 Battalion, Kalapanzi Barracks, in Kaduna State, leaving one dead and another injured. The incident occurred on April 2, 2025, at Babar Saura, where three attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, shot the soldiers before fleeing with two AK-47 rifles.
Details of the Attack
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert, intelligence sources revealed that the assailants were well-equipped and swiftly executed their attack. Corporal James (surname unknown) was confirmed dead at the 44 Army Reference Hospital, while Private Ibrahim Bazalla is receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
Response and Pursuit
Following the attack, a coordinated operation involving the military, police, and vigilante groups tracked the assailants to Degel 2 in Kaduna. The attackers abandoned a silver Toyota Corolla but managed to hijack a white Toyota Venza from a civilian, Abdullahi Mohammed, in Badarawa, Kaduna. Efforts to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen vehicle are ongoing.
