ABUJA, Nigeria - The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is intensifying its call for a thorough investigation into the bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on October 29, 2023, urging security agencies to probe Governor Siminalayi Fubara and others implicated in the alleged attack.
The APC's renewed demand comes after Dr. George Nwaeke, former Head of Service in Rivers State, publicly claimed that Fubara orchestrated the bombing to prevent his impeachment by lawmakers aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike. Nwaeke further alleged that Fubara directed his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to carry out the attack and that he personally witnessed a cash handover for the operation.
In a statement released Tuesday in Abuja, APC Rivers State Chairman, Sir Tony Okocha, stated that Nwaeke's account, as a former high-ranking official, should be considered credible eyewitness testimony. The APC maintains that Nwaeke's revelations reinforce its position as a party of integrity and a viable alternative for Rivers State governance in 2027.
The APC is urging relevant security agencies to professionally investigate the matter and make their findings public. The party asserts that verbal attacks against the resigned Head of Service will not deter them from serving as a watchdog of society and holding those in power accountable.
