Arsenal Set to Make Martin Zubimendi First Summer Signing After Triggering €60m Clause

Arsenal are poised to announce Martin Zubimendi as their first signing of the summer after triggering the €60 million release clause for the Real Sociedad midfielder. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old Spain international has verbally agreed to a long-term deal with the Gunners, and formal steps are now underway to finalize the transfer.

Zubimendi, who has been a priority target for manager Mikel Arteta, is expected to join Arsenal as the club looks to strengthen its midfield following a season in which they narrowly missed out on both the Premier League and Champions League titles. The move is seen as a significant boost for Arteta’s squad, which is aiming to secure a second-place league finish with just a few matches remaining.

The deal, driven by Arsenal’s sporting director Edu and new executive Andrea Berta, marks the beginning of what is anticipated to be a busy transfer window for the North London club. Zubimendi is set to become the first signing of the Andrea Berta era at Arsenal, with the club also reportedly closing in on other targets to reinforce the squad ahead of the new campaign.

An official announcement is expected at the start of June, pending the completion of formalities.
