Nigerian music superstars Davido and Asa are set to light up the stage at the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The much-anticipated performances will take place today, Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 5:00 pm at the MKO Sports Arena.
The announcement was made by Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission, who shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) earlier on Sunday. Olopade emphasized the significance of the festival, describing it as Nigeria’s own Olympics and highlighting the commitment to delivering a world-class event that reflects a global standard in both competition and organization.
“The National Sports Commission and Ogun State Government have put up a world-class event to mark the opening ceremony later today by 5:00 pm,” Olopade stated.
The 22nd edition of the festival, themed ‘Gateway Games,’ will officially be declared open by Vice President Kashim Shettima. The event promises to be a spectacular celebration of sports and culture, with Davido and Asa’s performances expected to add vibrant energy and entertainment to the festivities.
The National Sports Festival remains one of Nigeria’s premier sporting events, bringing together athletes from across the country to compete and showcase their talents.
