Apple Unveils iOS 26 with Striking ‘Liquid Glass’ Design at WWDC 2025

At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, Apple has officially pulled back the curtain on iOS 26, marking one of the most dramatic redesigns of the iPhone’s operating system since the debut of iOS 7 over a decade ago. The headline feature is the all-new “Liquid Glass” design language, which ushers in a bold era of translucency, depth, and dynamic visual effects across the entire iOS interface.

Abandoning the minimalist, flat aesthetic that has defined Apple’s software for years, iOS 26 introduces a translucent, glass-like interface that feels both immersive and interactive. System-wide transparency and polished, see-through elements now permeate everything from the home screen to core apps, creating a visually cohesive and delightfully tactile experience. Apple says this new look is designed to bring content front and center, with UI elements that react fluidly to touch and motion, offering users a sense of depth and liveliness never before seen on iPhone.

The Liquid Glass design isn’t just about looks it’s a strategic move to unify Apple’s ecosystem, ensuring a seamless experience across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and even the Apple Vision Pro. The company hints that this design evolution is laying the groundwork for future hardware, including the highly anticipated 20th anniversary iPhone expected in 2027.

Alongside the visual overhaul, iOS 26 brings a suite of new features and improvements. The Phone app now boasts a unified layout with advanced call screening and hold assist. Messages gets richer group chat options, including customizable backgrounds, polls, and live typing indicators. The Camera app has been streamlined for easier use, the Photos app now features improved navigation, and Safari offers edge-to-edge web browsing for a more immersive experience.

Developers will have access to the first iOS 26 betas soon, with a public release slated for later this year alongside the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. With iOS 26, Apple is once again setting a new standard for mobile operating system design, promising users a more beautiful, intuitive, and engaging iPhone experience.
