Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu is close to completing a permanent move to Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor after an impressive loan spell during the 2023/24 season. Onuachu scored 15 goals in 21 league appearances while on loan from Southampton, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess and endearing himself to the Black Sea Storm fans.
Trabzonspor had previously attempted to sign Onuachu last summer but failed to reach an agreement with Southampton. Following Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League, Trabzonspor renewed their interest, and talks between the two clubs have now reached an advanced stage.
The Turkish club has reportedly offered €5 million for Onuachu, who was signed by Southampton for €18 million from Belgian side KRC Genk in January 2023. The transfer would allow Onuachu to continue his career in Turkey permanently, where he has already demonstrated strong form and goal-scoring ability.
This move is expected to provide Onuachu with stability and a platform to further his career after Southampton’s relegation, while Trabzonspor aims to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season.
