Tacha Criticizes Nigerian Pastors, Says Most Would Not Get Away With Their Actions Abroad

UK-based Nigerian reality star Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has sparked debate online after condemning the conduct of some Nigerian Christian clerics, claiming that 90 percent of Nigerian pastors would not get away with their actions if they were outside the country.

Tacha’s comments were prompted by the recent controversy involving Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church. A video went viral showing Pastor Adefarasin holding what appeared to be a pistol-like object and confronting a car spotter who was filming his car. While Pastor Adefarasin later clarified that the object was not a firearm and denied pointing it at anyone, insisting the car spotter was aggressive, Tacha challenged this narrative in a video message shared on her X handle.

She insisted the footage clearly showed the pastor holding a pistol-like object and argued that the car spotter was not aggressive, as he appeared to be hailing the pastor. Tacha accused Pastor Adefarasin of attempting to gaslight the public and criticized the church congregation for applauding him during a subsequent service.

Tacha stated, “90 per cent of our Nigerian Pastors will not get away with what they do in Nigeria outside Nigeria. The kind of Christianity they practice, if they try it anywhere outside Nigeria their church will close down within a year.” She also highlighted what she described as selective outrage, noting that if a public figure like Seyi Tinubu or Nyesom Wike’s son had behaved similarly, there would be widespread condemnation on social media.

She further alleged that Pastor Adefarasin had previously been involved in another incident, where he allegedly smashed the windscreen of a bus after it hit his car, putting passengers at risk. Tacha concluded by calling for an end to what she described as “selective hypocrisy” in the treatment of religious leaders in Nigeria.
