Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Tems (Temilade Openiyi) has been announced as one of the headliners for the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup Final Halftime Show. The event will take place at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey on July 13, 2025, marking a significant milestone for both Tems and African music on the global stage.
Tems will share the stage with Colombian reggaeton star J Balvin and American rapper/singer Doja Cat. FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlighted the event as a celebration of football’s unity and the power of music, coinciding with the launch of the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
The newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup features 32 top clubs from around the world, with matches hosted across U.S. cities from June 14 to July 13, 2025. The halftime show aims to raise $100 million for global education and football opportunities for children, with $1 from every ticket sold going to the initiative.
Tems, who has previously performed at major events like Coachella, Glastonbury, and the NBA All-Star Game, expressed excitement about the historic opportunity to represent African music on such a prominent stage.
This development is particularly notable for followers of Nigerian international talent and global football events.
