Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United Battle for Club Brugge Midfielder Raphael Onyedika

Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are locked in a transfer battle to sign Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Belgian side Club Brugge this summer.

Onyedika, 24, has attracted attention with his impressive performances in the UEFA Champions League and for the Nigerian national team. His strong defensive skills, ability to control the midfield tempo, and versatility have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after young midfielders.

West Ham are targeting Onyedika as a direct replacement for Czech international Tomas Soucek, who is reportedly on his way out of the club. The Hammers had been leading the race for his signature, with talks reportedly at an advanced stage and personal terms agreed.

Tottenham Hotspur, under new manager Thomas Frank, have recently joined the race, seeking to bolster their squad after finishing 16th in the Premier League last season. Frank has identified a defensive midfielder as a priority signing, and Onyedika fits the profile perfectly.

Serie A giants AC Milan have also expressed interest, adding further competition for the Nigerian star.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge in 2022 from Danish club FC Midtjylland and has two years left on his contract. The Belgian club have already lined up a replacement in Ludovit Reis from Hamburg, signaling their readiness to let Onyedika leave for a reported fee of around €20 million.

This potential move would mark Onyedika’s first experience in the English Premier League, and it is expected to excite Super Eagles fans eager to see more Nigerian talents shine on the global stage.

The transfer saga is ongoing, with both Premier League clubs closely monitoring developments as the summer window progresses.
