The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged all corps members passing out of the service year not to lose hope despite Nigeria’s current economic challenges. This advice was given by the NYSC Director General, Brigadier-General Olakunle Nafiu, during the distribution of certificates to the 2024 Batch B Stream 1 corps members in Bauchi State.
Represented by the Bauchi State Coordinator, Kufre Umoren, the DG encouraged the outgoing corps members to remain optimistic and proactive, emphasizing that Nigeria is a land full of opportunities. He stated:
“I want to encourage you, despite the harsh economic conditions, don’t lose hope in your country. You can still turn the situation around because Nigeria is a land of opportunities. If you travel around the country, you will realize that there is no part of the country that does not have mineral resources or one form of economic advantage.”
Brig.-Gen. Nafiu also urged the youths not to return home to depend on their parents, but to think about how they can support their families and contribute to the nation’s growth. He praised Nigerian youths for their resilience, strength, hard work, and ingenuity.
He concluded by advising the corps members to start making critical decisions that would shape their futures and to plan ahead for the next phase of their lives.
A total of 1,054 corps members, including 584 males and 467 females, received their certificates of national service in Bauchi State.
