Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) from ₦840 to ₦820 per litre, marking its second price cut within two weeks. The new price took effect on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, as announced via the refinery’s official X account. This follows a previous reduction from ₦880 to ₦840 on July 1.
The refinery’s pricing strategy aims to ease fuel costs and stabilize the downstream petroleum market in Nigeria. Major retail partners such as MRS Oil & Gas, Ardova Plc, and Heyden Petroleum are expected to adjust their pump prices accordingly, potentially lowering retail prices below ₦885 per litre in key cities like Lagos and Abuja.
This move comes amid fluctuating global crude oil prices and reflects Dangote Refinery’s commitment to providing affordable, locally refined fuel to Nigerian consumers while supporting energy security and market competition. The refinery, Africa’s largest single-train facility with a 650,000-barrel daily capacity, continues to expand its distribution network and recently announced plans to deploy 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tanker trucks to enhance nationwide fuel delivery.
