Ganduje’s Resignation Signals Tinubu’s Tight Grip on Power; Dele Momodu Warns Akpabio to Beware

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and publisher Dele Momodu has issued a stark warning to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other key figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting the precarious nature of political loyalty under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Writing on his verified Facebook page, Momodu linked the recent resignation of former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje to a broader pattern of political expendability within the ruling party.

Momodu described Ganduje as a “tragic hero” who “took bullets for Tinubu” but whose usefulness has now expired, cautioning Akpabio and others to be wary of their standing. He pointed out that no one within Tinubu’s power structure is indispensable, emphasizing that the president’s centralization of authority follows a long-established pattern dating back to his tenure as Lagos State governor.

Drawing parallels, Momodu recalled how several deputy governors, including former Lagos Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, were removed despite initial party support, and noted that Vice President Kashim Shettima’s current political uncertainties are part of this recurring dynamic. He warned that the “prince does not entertain competition” and that “more victims will fall on the battlefield,” underscoring the ruthless nature of internal APC politics.

Momodu’s commentary comes amid ongoing speculation about political realignments ahead of Tinubu’s possible second term and reflects tensions within the APC as it consolidates power. The message serves as a reminder that loyalty to Tinubu is conditional and that political survival depends on unwavering allegiance to the president’s agenda.

This development highlights the volatile and often unforgiving landscape of Nigerian politics, where power is fiercely guarded, and even high-ranking officials can quickly fall out of favor.
