Addis Ababa, July 1, 2025 - Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed demonstrated dynamic leadership throughout June 2025, spearheading significant national development projects and engaging in high-profile diplomatic activities aimed at boosting Ethiopia’s economic transformation, technological innovation, and regional cooperation.

Among the key highlights of the month was the official launch of the 2025 Green Legacy Initiative, a large-scale environmental restoration program designed to combat climate change and promote sustainable development. The launch featured the participation of Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, underscoring growing bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Nigeria.

In recognition of global partnerships, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed bestowed the prestigious Ethiopia Special Order on Bill Gates, honoring the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s impactful contributions to health and development programs in Ethiopia.

Domestically, the Prime Minister advanced the Rural Corridors Initiative, unveiling model rural villages and new irrigation projects in Central Ethiopia aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving rural livelihoods. These efforts align with Ethiopia’s broader vision of inclusive growth and poverty reduction.

The Prime Minister also conducted extensive consultations with political leaders, academics, media professionals, and health sector stakeholders to foster collaborative governance and policy innovation. A notable cultural milestone was the launch of a Permanent Exhibition Section at the Science Museum, showcasing advancements in artificial intelligence, climate change mitigation, agriculture, hydropower, and aeronautics, along with the unveiling of a new Planetarium Dome.

On the international front, Prime Minister Abiy held strategic meetings with key figures including Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote, U.S. AFRICOM Commander General Michael Langley, and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi. These engagements focused on strengthening economic ties, security cooperation, and peaceful nuclear technology applications.

June 2025 marked a period of robust action and visionary leadership for Ethiopia, reinforcing its position as a regional leader committed to sustainable development, innovation, and international partnership.
