Nigerian gospel artist and former Project Fame winner Chidinma Ekile has disclosed a deeply traumatic experience she endured during a 40-day spiritual retreat involving fasting, prayer, and solitude in the wilderness. In a candid revelation, she recounted being confronted by a demonic presence that attempted to compel her to commit suicide by leaping off a cliff in the dead of night.
Despite the intense spiritual attack and the devil’s command to take her own life, an unseen force intervened, preventing her from acting on the impulse until her spiritual mentor eventually rescued her.
The 40-day retreat was marked by nights of heartfelt prayer and worship, during which Chidinma described a profound spiritual transformation where she felt God surgically remove her former self. This intense encounter, fraught with emotional and physical challenges, ultimately led to a renewed and strengthened faith. The singer has since used her testimony to inspire others, emphasizing resilience and divine protection amid spiritual warfare.
Since shifting her career towards gospel music with notable releases such as the 2021 single “Jehovah Overdo” Chidinma’s experience has added a powerful dimension to her ministry, underscoring the realities of spiritual trials and the triumph of faith. Her openness about this ordeal has encouraged meaningful conversations about mental health, spiritual struggles, and hope in the Christian community.
