The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Abia State has confirmed that three additional female passengers have died in hospital after suffering injuries in a tragic road accident on the Ntigha axis of the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway. This increases the death toll to four, up from the initial report of one fatality.
The accident involved an 18-seater commercial bus traveling from Ebonyi State to Aba. The vehicle suffered a burst tire while in motion, causing it to veer off the road and somersault multiple times, throwing passengers into a bush and leaving many critically injured. Survivors are currently receiving treatment in hospitals.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Abia, Mrs. Ngozi Ezeoma, confirmed the updated figure after follow-up hospital checks. The crash has highlighted ongoing concerns about road safety and vehicle maintenance on this busy expressway.
