Northern CAN Urges Citizens Across 19 States and FCT to Embrace Continuous Voter Registration Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has called on all eligible citizens to actively participate in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Emphasizing the pivotal role of voter participation in strengthening democracy, the Northern CAN described registration as an essential step to counter voter apathy and empower Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, the Chairman of Northern CAN, Rev. Yakubu Pam, highlighted the moral and civic duty of Nigerians to register, update their records, and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He urged churches, Christian organizations, and community leaders to mobilize their members to ensure no eligible voter is left behind in this critical democratic exercise.

Rev. Pam stressed that active engagement in the electoral process is instrumental in electing leaders who embody integrity, justice, and equity. He reminded citizens that democracy flourishes when the people's voices are heard, urging them to seize the opportunity to shape Nigeria’s future through their votes.

CAN’s call aligns with INEC’s nationwide push to boost voter registration ahead of upcoming elections, reinforcing public awareness campaigns to educate Nigerians on the importance of political participation.
