Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses (Ultra)’ Becomes First African Album to Surpass 3 Billion Streams on Spotify

Nigerian singer Rema’s debut album, Rave & Roses (Ultra), has made history by becoming the first African album to exceed 3 billion streams on Spotify. This milestone was reached on or before August 7, 2025. The extended album version, released after his original 2022 debut, features the global hit single "Calm Down" (including the remix with Selena Gomez), which alone contributed over 2 billion streams to the total.

Following Rave & Roses (Ultra) in streaming numbers is South African singer Tyla’s debut album with over 2 billion streams. Other notable African projects surpassing the billion-stream mark include Burna Boy’s African Giant and Love, Damini, Wizkid’s Made in Lagos: Deluxe Edition, and CKay’s CKay the First.

Rema’s achievement underscores his growing international influence and reflects the rising global appreciation for African music.
