The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Abia State chapter has indefinitely suspended Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe following his alleged claim of leadership within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia State. The suspension came after the party gave him a 24-hour ultimatum to deny or confirm his association with ADC, which the Senator did not respond to.
In a letter signed by the State Secretary, Pastor Peter Nduka, the APGA State Executive Committee cited "anti-party activities" and conduct that brought the party into public ridicule as reasons for the disciplinary action. The suspension resolution was passed at a meeting held on September 26, 2025, in Umuahia.
APGA accused Senator Abaribe of engaging in factional schemes and sidelining the party since securing his fifth term in the Senate under the APGA platform, while allegedly canvassing support for ADC at various political meetings. The party warned that the suspension would stand pending a disciplinary hearing.
Senator Abaribe, a longtime politician and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APGA in 2023. His recent political moves and endorsements, including support for Governor Alex Otti’s second term in office, have stirred tensions within APGA.
