First Bank Nigeria Faces Service Disruption, Customers Experience Transaction Delays

First Bank of Nigeria has announced a service disruption affecting several of its digital platforms, including FirstMobile, FirstOnline, and the USSD channel. The disruption, reported on September 4, 2025, has led to delays and declined transactions, particularly those involving money transfers to other banks.

The bank issued a notice on its official X account, apologizing for the inconvenience and assuring customers that efforts are underway to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Customers were advised to be patient while the technical team, working alongside partners, addresses the downtime.

In the interim, First Bank encouraged users to utilize alternative digital channels such as FirstMonie Wallet and debit cards for urgent transactions. The bank also provided customer care contacts for complaints and inquiries to ensure prompt support.

This disruption follows a broader trend of recent temporary outages affecting various Nigerian banks’ digital services, reflecting ongoing challenges in the country’s financial technology infrastructure.
