Nigerian athlete Ezekiel Nathaniel secured a commanding victory in the men’s 400m hurdles semi-finals at the 2025 World Athletics Championships held in Tokyo.
Nathaniel clocked an impressive time of 47.47 seconds to win his semi-final race.
At 22 years old, he made history as the second Nigerian ever to qualify for the final of the men’s 400m hurdles at the World Championships, the first being Henry Amike at the 1987 edition in Rome.
The final of the men’s 400m hurdles is scheduled for Friday.
Nathaniel is aiming to become the second Nigerian medalist at the ongoing Championships, following Tobi Amusan’s silver medal performance.
