A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that the party is not afraid of defections and believes that defection does not determine election outcomes. The ADC leader emphasized that the party remains confident and focused on winning the 2027 general elections irrespective of the ongoing defections by some governors and politicians to other parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party chieftain highlighted that politics in Nigeria is dynamic, and voters ultimately make decisions based on the candidates' performance and credibility rather than mere defections. The ADC maintains that its grassroots structures and commitment to inclusive, transparent leadership position the party well to challenge the dominance of established parties.
This declaration comes amid several defections rocking major political parties as the 2027 elections approach, underscoring the heated political environment in Nigeria. The ADC chieftain also called on Nigerians to focus on issues and policies rather than political horse trading, urging for a more issue-based political contest.
