Popular Nigerian comedian Seyi Aletile, known professionally as Seyi Law, has openly addressed the severe economic difficulties affecting millions of Nigerians. In an interview on Inside the Box, he emphasized the direct link between widespread hunger and public frustration, urging government leaders to openly acknowledge the people's suffering rather than gloss over it.
“Nigerians are hungry and hungry people are angry people,” Seyi Law stated. “I hate when we try to sweep such realities under the carpet, which is often what politicians do. Let’s acknowledge the pain and let people know that reforms will come with hardship, but eventually, there will be relief.”
While Seyi Law supports the government's reform agenda, he shared that he personally feels the burden alongside the citizens. Highlighting his own challenges, he revealed the impact of the Nigerian naira’s depreciation on his family in the UK, where he now pays double the amount to convert his earnings.
His frank comments reflect the wider public's frustrations with rising living costs, food insecurity, and economic instability, even as the government promises long-term benefits from ongoing economic reforms.
