Rivers Governor Fubara Gives Contractor One Month to Deliver Road Project or Lose Job

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has issued a stern ultimatum to the contractor handling the Ogbakiri road project, warning that they have only one month to complete the work or face termination. The directive came during the governor’s inspection of the ongoing road construction in Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Government Area.

Governor Fubara expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and stressed the urgency of delivering critical infrastructure that would enhance mobility and stimulate economic activities in the community. “So, I’m here to assure the good people of Emohua and Ogbakiri in particular, the Chairman is here as a witness, and you can see that the contractor is back on site. God willing, before the end of December, this project will be completed,” he said.

The governor emphasized that the welfare of the people is paramount and that government projects must translate into tangible benefits. He warned the contractor that failure to meet the deadline would lead to the loss of their contract and job.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the governor's commitment, seeing it as a boost for development in the area. The project, with a budget of about N15 billion, has already received a 30 percent mobilization fee, and stakeholders remain hopeful it will be completed on time.
