Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo Urges Senate President Akpabio to Facilitate Obaseki’s Return for Probe

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has formally called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to assist in bringing the immediate past governor, Godwin Obaseki, back to the state to answer what he described as “vital questions” regarding allegations of financial mismanagement and poor governance during Obaseki’s administration. Okpebholo has repeatedly restated his commitment to probing the tenure of his predecessor, citing concerns over alleged irregularities throughout Obaseki’s eight-year rule.

The governor emphasized the need for full accountability and transparency, expressing the intention to set up a Commission of Inquiry to investigate claims of financial misconduct and neglected projects. Okpebholo further stated his administration aims to demonstrate a marked difference in governance and public service delivery compared to the past era, dedicating effort to reveal specific areas of alleged mismanagement for the benefit of Edo residents.

This move follows heightened calls from various stakeholders for a thorough inquiry into the previous administration, amid public debates about governance standards and fiscal responsibility in Edo State.
