Enugu APC Stalwart Ada Ogbu Quits Party Amid Internal Turmoil

Prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Enugu State, Ada Ogbu, resigned her membership on December 31, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences with party leadership and a toxic political environment stifling progressives. In her resignation letter to the state executive, Ogbu lamented the APC's transformation into a "personal fiefdom" dominated by godfathers, betraying its founding ideals of inclusive governance.

Ogbu, a key women's wing mobilizer and 2023 election financier, accused Enugu APC executives of favoritism, fund misappropriation, and blocking youth/women representation in favor of recycled politicians. She highlighted failed internal primaries rigged for zoning quotas over merit, echoing national PDP defections but from the ruling side.

The exit amplifies Southeast APC fractures post-2023 losses, with Governor Peter Mbah's Labour Party dominance and APC's internal wars mirroring Rivers' Wike-Fubara saga. Ogbu praised Tinubu's federal reforms but decried state-level sabotage, vowing to support progressive causes independently ahead of 2027.

APC spokespersons dismissed her as a "disgruntled element," while supporters hailed her courage on social media, trending #AdaOgbuResigns. Analysts see risks of mass exits weakening APC's Southeast push, as LP eyes consolidation amid Bode George's INEC warnings. No response from national headquarters by morning.
