IPOB lead counsel Ifeanyi Ejiofor publicly cried out on December 31, 2025, over intensifying death threats targeting him and his family during Christmas festivities in Oraifite, Anambra State. In a detailed petition dated December 29, the human rights lawyer accused a state lawmaker and local figures of orchestrating security withdrawals and plotting midnight police raids under false pretenses.
Ejiofor secured Anambra Vigilante Group (AVG/Udo-ga-Achi) protection amid known risks, only for the commander to receive pressure calls demanding immediate pullout from the lawmaker, AVG State Commander Agunechemba, and Oraifite Improvement Union President. Personnel withdrew to avoid clashes, leaving the household exposed; intelligence later warned of mobilized police raids falsely claiming armed impostors occupied his home.
Anambra Police's fact-finding visit exposed the deception confirming peaceful premises and prior withdrawal despite agitators' insistence on invasion. Ejiofor disclosed his unnamed "Oga" principal's identity to authorities, vowing accountability should harm befall them during the holidays.
The escalation follows Ejiofor's defense of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB amid Southeast agitator crackdowns, mirroring Umahi's Tinubu loyalty push and LP's Obi-Otti fractures. Rights groups demand AGF probe as Ejiofor thanks global supporters, placing security agencies on notice.
