Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), a move announced by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda at the party's 14th National Caucus meeting in Abuja.
Yilwatda, Mutfwang's 2023 election rival and a Plateau native, declared the entire North-Central region now under APC control, with President Bola Tinubu presiding over the gathering attended by six recently defected PDP governors.
Mutfwang's switch stems from PDP internal crises, positioning alignment with Tinubu as the "safest option" for state development and federal projects amid security challenges, following defections by governors like Fubara (Rivers), Mbah (Enugu), and Oborevwori (Delta).
