The incident happened in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during a filming session. James was working in a designated effects preparation area outside the main set. He was experimenting with an unauthorised pyrotechnic device using a gas cylinder alongside his two assistants.
A sudden explosion occurred, leaving James with severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but sadly succumbed to them. His assistants suffered burn injuries and were taken to a specialist hospital. They are now stable and receiving treatment.
