Delta APC Rejects Call to Adopt Governor Oborevwori as 2027 Candidate

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a suggestion by House of Representatives member Francis Waive that the party should adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as its sole candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party clarified that Waive’s remarks were his personal opinion and did not represent the APC’s official position. The party emphasized that its candidate for the 2027 election would be chosen through a transparent and competitive process.

The APC also criticized Governor Oborevwori’s administration, describing it as a "monumental disappointment" and accusing it of financial mismanagement and poor developmental performance despite receiving over ₦2 trillion in federal allocations.

Reaffirming its commitment to defeating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the APC stated that it has qualified candidates ready to provide a credible alternative for Delta State in 2027. The party urged members and the public to disregard Waive’s statement, vowing to "rescue Delta State from the PDP’s misrule."
