Renowned Nigerian leaders Pastor Tunde Bakare and former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili have proposed comprehensive solutions to address Nigeria's persistent leadership crisis during a national dialogue on governance in Abuja.
Bakare, the Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, emphasized the need for visionary leadership that prioritizes national interest over personal gain. "We must move beyond transactional politics to transformational governance that serves all Nigerians," he stated, proposing constitutional conventions to redefine leadership selection processes.
Ezekwesili, co-founder of the #BringBackOurGirls movement, presented data showing how weak institutions enable poor leadership. "Our system's design flaws produce predictable failures. We need surgical constitutional reforms to rebalance power," she argued, presenting a 5-point institutional reform agenda.
Key recommendations from the dialogue included:

5. Anti-corruption architecture overhaul
The National Assembly has acknowledged receipt of the proposals, with the Senate President promising "serious consideration" of the recommendations during upcoming constitutional review processes.
