Samsung Electronics Co-CEO Han Jong-Hee Passes Away at 63

Samsung Electronics has announced the sudden passing of Co-Chief Executive Officer Han Jong-Hee, who died of a heart attack at the age of 63.

Han was instrumental in elevating Samsung's television business, contributing significantly to the company's position as the world's leading TV manufacturer.

Joining Samsung in 1988, Han dedicated 37 years to the company, culminating in his appointment as co-vice chairman and CEO in 2022.

He oversaw the consumer electronics and mobile devices divisions, playing a pivotal role in Samsung's expansion and innovation in these sectors.

In the wake of Han's passing, Jun Young-hyun, who previously led Samsung's semiconductor division, will assume the role of sole CEO.

This leadership transition occurs during a challenging period for Samsung, as the company faces intensified competition in the semiconductor market and strives to maintain its leading position in consumer electronics.

Han's death marks a significant moment for Samsung, as the company navigates both the loss of a key leader and the evolving dynamics of the global technology industry.
