FCT Police Clarify Death of Former Immigration Boss David Parradang, Dismiss Kidnap Claims

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of former Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Parradang, dismissing reports that he was kidnapped and killed. According to the police, Parradang died in a hotel in Abuja after receiving a female guest.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, providing a detailed account of the incident. She stated that Parradang checked into Joy House Hotel in Area 3 Junction, Abuja, on March 3, 2025, at approximately 12:00 PM, driving a black Mercedes Benz. He paid N22,000 for a one-night stay and later directed a hotel attendant to escort a female guest to his room.

“The lady left the hotel premises around 04:00 PM the same day. Mr. Parradang did not exit his room after the lady left. Around 04:00 AM on March 4, 2025, a friend, who is a military officer, concerned for his wellbeing, traced him to the hotel,” Adeh explained.

Upon arrival, the hotel receptionist and the officer found Parradang deceased, seated in a chair in his room. The Durumi Police Station was immediately notified, and officers secured the scene, took photographs, and collected relevant evidence to preserve the integrity of the crime scene.

“The body has been transferred to the National Hospital for necessary procedures, and hotel staff are currently cooperating with Police investigations,” the statement added.

Adeh emphasized that reports claiming Parradang was kidnapped and killed were false, urging the public to disregard such misinformation. The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of death, while the hotel staff are assisting with the ongoing probe.

Parradang, who served as Comptroller-General of the NIS, was a respected figure in Nigeria’s public service. His sudden death has sparked reactions from colleagues, friends, and the public, with many calling for a transparent investigation to uncover the truth behind the incident. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
