In the latest twist to the ongoing saga within the Okoye family, Peter Okoye, one half of the disbanded music duo P-Square, has denied allegations of involvement in his elder brother Jude Okoye’s legal troubles. The controversy stems from accusations made by Peter’s twin brother, Paul Okoye, who claimed that Peter was attempting to jail Jude, their elder brother and former manager.
The drama unfolded after Jude Okoye was remanded in prison on Friday by the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos. Jude is facing charges of alleged N1.38 billion fraud brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Following the court hearing, Paul Okoye spoke to the press, vowing to secure Jude’s release and accusing Peter of being behind the legal action.
However, Peter Okoye has refuted these claims through his manager, Emem Kush. In an interview with Saturday Beat, Kush clarified that Peter had no involvement in Jude’s case, emphasizing that the EFCC’s investigation was independent of Peter’s actions.
“I don’t think Peter has any comments on this issue because the case is based on the EFCC investigation and Jude Okoye. I don’t see what Peter Okoye has to do with it,” Kush stated. “Peter’s petition was only against the company that has been receiving funds on his behalf. So, don’t mix up issues or create issues where they are not. The EFCC was the one that received all of this, so it’s best to speak to them to know their findings.”
The Okoye family has been embroiled in a series of public disputes since the breakup of P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music groups. Jude, who served as the group’s manager, has often been at the center of these conflicts, with Peter and Paul accusing him of mismanagement and financial impropriety in the past.
