Reekado Banks Alleges Sabotage of Emerging Talents in Nigerian Music Industry

Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has raised concerns about an individual within the entertainment industry whom he accuses of hindering the progress of emerging artists. In a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter) dated March 25, 2025, Banks described this person as either "absolutely clueless or plain demonic," alleging that they consistently engage in policies that "effectively slow these talents down" and, in some cases, "frustrate them out of pursuing their dreams."

The post has led to speculation regarding the identity of the individual, with some suggesting a connection to Banks' former record label, Mavin Records. However, Banks promptly clarified that his remarks were not directed at Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records. He stated, "It may not be obvious to you all, but I'm definitely not referring to Baba J [Don Jazzy]. Ejo lol, pls n thanks."

Banks' statements have ignited discussions about the challenges faced by up-and-coming artists in the Nigerian music scene, particularly concerning the influence of industry figures on their careers. While Banks has not yet disclosed the identity of the individual, he hinted at a forthcoming interview where he may provide further details.
